Went from a lukewarm drip machine to a $40 pour-over setup

I used to drink the same bitter pot from my old Mr. Coffee for six years straight. Swapped it for a plastic V60 and a gooseneck kettle that cost me $40 total at a garage sale in Portland. First cup tasted like actual berries and cocoa instead of burnt tire, and now I cringe at every diner refill. Anyone else make a switch that small and notice a difference that big?
