Am I the only one who spent 3 weeks tweaking text that was already fine to read?
Back in 2013 I built a site for a bakery in Portland and the owner kept saying the text under the photos was hard to see. I bumped the lightness on that gray like 2% at a time, sometimes 1%, usually at 11pm, for almost 3 weeks. Turned out the real problem was the photo behind it, not the text color at all. Curious if anyone else has burned weeks on a contrast fix that was never about the text in the first place.
The photo thing gets me every time. Spent 4 days last month messing with font weight on a client's menu page before I realized the pic behind it had a bright spot right where the text sat. Swapped the photo and suddenly the same exact gray was fine. Now I always check the backdrop first before touching a single color value.
