Can we talk about how a single accent color can fix a whole design?

I was working on a flyer for a local bake sale and the layout felt flat, just beige and brown like the cookies. After adding a tiny bit of teal blue to the headings and borders, the whole thing popped and looked way more fun. Has anyone else had a design saved by one simple color change?

My graphic designer friend swears by that trick, calls it the "hero color" rule. It's crazy how one shade can pull everything together.

I get the idea but honestly it feels like putting too much pressure on one color lol. What if your "hero" shade looks bad in different lighting or on other screens? I've seen whole designs fall apart because they leaned on a single color too much. Sometimes a more balanced mix works better than hoping one shade saves everything.
