My art teacher called my color combos "aggressive" and it messed with my head

I showed her a poster I made with bright neon orange and deep purple and she said it looked like a fight on paper instead of a design. She told me to try using muted tones as a base then add one pop of color and honestly it made way more sense than I expected. Anyone else have a creative person totally change how you see color schemes?

Wait, isn't that always the struggle though? @terry_hayes18 you're right, less is way more when it comes to color. I still catch myself going overboard sometimes.
