A guy at my print shop in Toledo showed me a grayscale check before picking colors and it keeps saving my butt
I kept picking palettes that looked fine on my screen but turned to mush when printed, especially logos with a couple similar blues. He told me to squint at a black and white version first, so last week I ran a 3 color logo through grayscale and the two blues were almost the same gray, which meant zero contrast for anyone colorblind. Now I check value before hue every time and the logo prints way cleaner. But part of me wonders if I'm overthinking it and should just trust a proper contrast checker instead. Do you all check values first, or go straight to picking hues and fix it later?
