Showerthought: 8% of men are colorblind and almost nobody checks for it before picking a brand palette
I was reading through a Nielsen Norman Group article from 2022 about accessibility and it said roughly 1 in 12 men has some form of color vision deficiency. That number stopped me cold because I've built probably 30 brand palettes in the past year and never once thought about it. I pulled up a red and green logo I made in March and ran it through the Coblis simulator and it turned into one brownish blob, completely unreadable. Now I check every palette before I send it out, takes two minutes. Has anyone found a checker that handles the 8 types of color blindness clearly?
Which two colors was the logo you tested? Asking because red/green is the easy one to catch, but I keep getting caught out by blue and purple stuff since deuteranopia messes with those too and nobody talks about it. Curious if the simulator you use shows all 8 types side by side or makes you click through them one at a time, because that changes how fast you can actually check a palette.
