Just realized my grocery's price tags are a colorblind nightmare

Can't tell the sale items from regular. Almost bought overpriced avocados.

At the Safeway near me, sale tags have a bright orange background that looks the same as the yellow regular tags if you're red-green colorblind. My cousin deals with this and ends up asking staff for help every time, which is a hassle. Stores really should think about clear design from the start. How often do you run into this problem? Is it just avocados or other items too? I wonder if there's a rule about color contrast in pricing.

Ever notice how many places use color as the only way to share important info? I see it all the time with signs and labels, not just grocery tags. It really shows who wasn't considered in the design process.

My friend got a parking ticket because the pay station only used a green light for good and red for broken, and he's colorblind. @the_brooke's cousin's story about the grocery tags is exactly the same kind of problem. It's lazy design that makes daily life harder for a lot of people.
