That one collector told me I was pressing comics wrong
I used to press my comics with a standard clothes iron set to low heat. A guy at my local shop in Austin saw me do it and told me I was ruining the paper fibers. He showed me how to use a dry mount press and silicone sheets instead. I switched to a Seal 210M I found used for $150 six months ago and the results are night and day. Now my books lie flat and the gloss stays intact. Has anyone else gotten roasted for their pressing setup?

Oh man, that's brutal getting called out like that in person. I felt that secondhand embarrassment. But honestly, that collector did you a favor because an iron on low heat still cooks the paper over time. I've seen people warp entire stacks of books that way and they don't even realize it until months later. That Seal 210M for $150 is a steal, those things last forever if you take care of them.

Actually gotta push back a little on the Seal 210M being a steal for $150. I've owned two of those and they're solid but the newer models have way better heat distribution. That old 210M can get hot spots if you're not careful. Plus finding replacement parts for it is a nightmare now since they stopped making them like 8 years ago. You're better off saving a tiny bit more for a used 210S or even one of the cheaper Chinese ones that actually have digital temp control. Just my two cents from ruining a few projects learning the hard way.
