Warning: bagging and boarding in batches of 50 made me stop hating the chore
I used to put off bagging new issues for so long that a stack of 60 sat loose on my desk for two months. Now I lay out 50 bags on the dining table in rows, board them all first, then slide the comics in one pass, and the pile is gone in about 25 minutes. Anyone got a faster setup for long boxes with tight spacing?
Buddy of mine solved the tight spacing thing with a cheap plastic bag loader and a little wooden jig he built to hold the bag open. Sounds goofy but he swears it cut his time way down, since he's not fighting the bag edge with both hands every single comic. He does the same board first deal you do, except he stacks the boards in a little tray so he can grab one without looking. Last time I was over his place he did a whole short box in under half an hour while we were talking. The jig is basically scrap wood and a hinge, nothing fancy.
