Was a floppy comic hater until I saw a proper bag and board system

I used to just stack my issues on a shelf. Thought bags and boards were a waste of money. Then I saw a buddy's collection from 1985 last week. Every spine was straight, no color fade. He showed me how he rotates them every 6 months. Now I'm re-bagging my whole 200 issue run. Anyone else switch from stacking to boarding late?

Ngl I see people acting like bagging and boarding is some sacred ritual and I just don't get the hype. Sure it keeps them flat but are you really gonna flip through them every 6 months for the rest of your life? That sounds like a chore, not a hobby. Rotating them on a shelf sounds like overkill unless you're trying to flip them for profit later. Stacking them flat probably does some damage over time but most of my old comics from the 90s still look fine and I never babied them.

Nah, I gotta disagree. My 90s comics that weren't bagged are trashed. Yellowed pages, spine rolls, covers peeling off. Bagging isn't about resale value, it's about keeping something you love in good shape. I flip through mine maybe once a year, not every six months. That's not a chore, that's just taking care of your stuff.
