Appreciation post: Stood firm when a boss pushed to skip a safety check on the dive platform.

It cost me some overtime, but keeping the crew safe was worth every minute.

Wow, standing your ground on safety like that takes real guts. It's crazy that a boss would even ask to skip a check, especially on a dive platform where things can go wrong fast. I've heard stories where missed steps led to equipment failure or worse. What check did they want to skip? How did your boss react when you pushed back?

Yeah, that "equipment failure or worse" line is too real. My friend's old boss tried to rush a pressure test and it blew a seal, scared everyone half to death.

But isn't that why the checks exist in the first place?
