I finally switched from my old neoprene drysuit to a trilaminate one after a job in Puget Sound last winter.
The water was 42 degrees and I realized I was spending half my energy just shivering, which messed with my deco stops. Anyone else make a gear change that seriously improved your bottom time?

That gear upgrade story is a perfect example of how the right tool just lets you do the job. So many people fight their equipment instead of letting it work for them, and it costs them time and focus. Getting the proper setup removes a whole layer of stress you didn't even know you had.

I used to think that was just hype but you're right about that hidden stress layer.

Ever notice how @robinson.reese is right about that stress just vanishing once you stop fighting your tools? It's like your brain can finally just do the work.
