My primary light gave out at 85 feet on a harbor inspection

It was last Tuesday on a job in Baltimore, doing a routine check on some pilings. The light just went dark, no flicker, nothing. I had to finish the dive using my backup light and feel my way along the bottom. Has anyone else had a primary fail that deep, and what brand do you trust now?

That "feel my way along the bottom" part is the real story. Have you considered adding a small chemical glow stick to your kit as a last-ditch backup?

Glow sticks are a solid idea. It's funny how we rely on tech until it fails, then the simple stuff saves the day. What's the oldest piece of gear you still trust?

Honestly, how bad was it really? Harbor water at 85 feet is murky, but you had a backup light and could still work. I get what @felix478 is saying about glow sticks, but that feels like overkill for a job you finished anyway.
