My buddy's tank valve started leaking during a dive last week. Makes you question how gear gets checked, right?

That's scary, @samj27. When you talk about questioning gear checks, it hits home. Can you describe the leak more? Was it a constant hiss or did it start fast? Knowing the type helps figure out if it was maintenance or something like a cracked valve. Also, when was the last time the tank had a proper visual check?

Blame the diver, not the gear. People skip checks all the time.
