Had to choose between a soldering iron and a heat gun for a weird fix last week
I was trying to fix a broken keyboard trace on a laptop and couldn't decide if I should solder a jumper wire or just use my heat gun to reflow the whole connection... I went with the heat gun because it felt faster, but I ended up melting a nearby ribbon cable and made a total mess out of it. How do you guys pick the right tool when you're between two options like that?

Ha man that's brutal but honestly not that crazy. @anthony165 you ever know a guy who tried to fix a screen with a hair dryer and a butter knife? My buddy Mark once spent 6 hours carving a new spacebar out of a wooden spoon because his dog chewed the original. He said it felt "handcrafted" but it stuck every third press and he ended up buying a replacement for 8 bucks on Amazon anyway. You really gotta know when to fold em.
