Found out the hard way that rebar needs to be 3 inches from the edge in freeze-thaw zones
Broke a slab corner in Bozeman last March and the inspection report showed I had the rebar at 1.5 inches, which is fine for warm climates but not up here, so now I'm checking the ACI code before every pour, has anyone else run into this regional difference?
Wait, 1.5 inches is fine in warm climates?? That blows my mind that the code changes that much just based on where you live. I always figured rebar spacing was pretty much the same everywhere.
