Overheard a guy at the supply yard say 'just broom it flat' like that's all there is to it
Was picking up some Cure and Seal at the Maxwell Hardware yesterday and this younger guy told his buddy that finishing is just brooming it flat. I wanted to hand him a rebar and tell him to try walking a slab in 90 degree heat. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue when someone makes it sound that simple?

Man I had a guy at a supplier last summer tell me a bonded topping is just like pouring a slab. I just said "sure thing" and walked away. What got me through that was remembering the time I had to finish 40 yards of that stuff in July with the sun cooking it faster than I could work. Some lessons you just gotta learn with a trowel in your hand, not your mouth.

Oh, that sun cooking it is no joke. You're right that bonded toppings are a whole different animal than a slab, though I'd say the real trick is getting the surface prep right before you even mix. Anyone who's had a bonded topping delaminate knows that lesson sticks with you a lot worse than the heat.
