Had my dentist talk me out of a conspiracy theory about fluoride last Thursday
I was sitting in the chair getting a cleaning and brought up how I had been reading about fluoride being a government mind control thing. My dentist, Dr. Patel, just laughed and asked me if I knew the actual concentration levels in our tap water here in Phoenix. She pulled out a chart showing how it's 0.7 parts per million and said at that level it just hardens enamel and nothing else. I still have some doubts but her calm breakdown with real numbers kind of hit different. Has anyone else had a professional completely dismantle a theory you were holding onto?

Honestly, getting hit with "0.7 parts per million" is the kind of cold hard reality check that makes you feel silly for buying into the deep end. Tbh I'd be more worried if my dentist had a chart on mind control concentrations ready to go.

That's a fair point about her having the chart ready, but honestly that just proves she actually knows her stuff and isn't just repeating what she heard. Gotta respect a professional who can back up their claims with real data instead of just dismissing you. Sometimes the simplest explanation (it hardens teeth) is actually the right one if the numbers check out.
