Shoutout to the guy who said my phone was being tracked by a grocery store app
I spent 3 hours digging through app permissions and found a location tracker running 24/7 from a coupon app I downloaded last month. Anyone else find weird permissions hiding in plain sight?

Actually, you can turn off location access for each app in your settings.

The thing is, turning off location access in settings doesn't always stop the tracking completely. A lot of apps can still figure out your general area using your IP address or wifi network data. I had to dig into the privacy settings for each app itself, not just the phone's main settings, to find the real off switch. It's a sneaky way for them to keep collecting data.

Yeah that's the worst. I had a gas station app doing the same thing. I went into my phone's settings and just turned off location access for EVERY app that didn't absolutely need it. Then I went one by one and only gave it back to maps and weather. It's a pain but it stopped all that background tracking.
