Used to tape every JFK special on VHS in 1993, now I can't sit through a 20 minute YouTube breakdown
Back in high school I had a shelf of like 30 tapes, all labeled with a Sharpie, and I'd trade them with a guy named Daryl at the flea market on Sundays. Now everything is a 45 minute video with a crazy thumbnail and I skip through it in 3 minutes looking for the part that actually matters. I think part of it is that nothing feels scarce anymore, so the mystery is gone. The stuff I used to drive across town for is just sitting there free and I barely care. Anyone else find that the endless supply killed the fun of digging into this stuff?
Man, that scarcity thing is way overblown, having everything free means you can actually dig deeper instead of driving around hunting for one crusty tape. The mystery isn't gone, you just got older and lazier.
