Wasted $2,100 on a scheduling app my crew never used, and I finally snapped
I bought a 6 month subscription to Buildertrend for $2,100 last year because the sales guy in Denver swore my guys would log their hours on it. Three of my six carpenters are over 50 and two of them still write timesheets on paper, so I was paying for software that sat empty while I did all the data entry myself on Sunday nights. We went back to a $12 whiteboard from Home Depot and a group text, and honestly nothing got worse. Has anyone actually gotten a full crew to adopt a scheduling app, or is that just a sales pitch that never works?
Did the sales guy actually promise your over-50 guys would use it, or did he just say the app could track hours? The app probably works fine, but getting guys who like paper to switch is a whole different problem than the software itself.
