Overheard a designer at a cafe say dark mode is just 'inverted colors'

Honestly, that made me so mad. They were talking about a project and said they just slapped a black background on their light theme. Tbh, you can't just invert stuff, you have to adjust the contrast and saturation for every single element. Has anyone else had to explain this to a coworker?

Just realized I was the only one in our shop not using a torque wrench for spark plugs

Had a 2018 Ford F-150 come in last Tuesday with a misfire, and the old plugs were stuck bad. My boss said to just crank them out with a breaker bar, but I insisted on soaking them with penetrating oil overnight first. He thought it was a waste of time, but I got all eight out without stripping a single thread. Anyone else get pushback for taking the slower, careful route on jobs like this?

My neighbor said my studio looked like a shed from the street

He walked by last week and just said, 'Hey, nice shed.' I had only put up plain plywood siding and a basic door. So I spent about $200 on some cedar battens and a nicer window trim kit from the store. I added those and painted the door a dark blue. Now it looks like a real little building, not just storage. Has anyone else had to fix their studio's curb appeal like that?

Mixing the wrong clearcoat on a '67 Mustang quarter panel

I grabbed the wrong hardener from the shelf and didn't realize it until the finish started to orange peel like crazy. Anyone know a good way to fix this without a full strip and respray?

A guy at the fair said my hammer blows were too heavy for the steel

He watched me work a small scroll and told me I was hitting like I was forging a railroad spike, which was making the metal brittle. I switched to a lighter 2 pound hammer and focused on faster, lighter taps, and the difference in control was huge. Anyone else get that advice when moving to finer work?

Bedtime battles are over thanks to a simple sticker chart

Man, bedtime used to be a nightmare with my kids running around and refusing to brush their teeth. Last month, I got star stickers and made a chart for each kid. Every night they finish their routine without fuss, they get a sticker. After five stickers, they pick a small treat from a prize box. It worked like magic and now we read books together without rushing. I feel like I won the parenting lottery this week lol. Our evenings are calm for the first time in ages.
