Debate: should we stick with the same technique we learned in school or adapt when a new method just works better?
I spent 3 years doing foils the exact way my instructor taught me until last month at a workshop in Portland a stylist showed me a different sectioning pattern that took 20 minutes off my time, but now I feel guilty changing my whole system like I'm disrespecting my training, so which side do you fall on?

Ngl I still have nightmares about my instructor popping out from behind me and judging my sectioning, but if it saves me 20 minutes and my clients leave happier, I'm calling that a win even if it makes me feel like a traitor.

Holding onto that guilt a little longer honestly might not be a bad thing. I get that saving time and making clients happy feels good, but that proper sectioning your instructor drilled into you is what makes sure every strand gets the same color. Rushing through it just to save 20 minutes can end up with patchy results that clients notice way more than a slightly longer appointment. I've seen too many "quick" color jobs turn into a mess that takes three times as long to fix later.
