Finally got my balayage saturation right after a client in March said her ends looked 'dusty'.

I used to rush the application, but now I take a full 45 minutes just for the mids to ends, and the difference in that seamless blend is night and day.

That "dusty" comment would have haunted me for weeks. I bet that client has no idea she's the reason your whole process changed. Sometimes the worst feedback is the most useful.

Right? I had a client call a color "dirty dishwater" once and I still check every beige against my sink now.

Rowan's comment about checking every beige against the sink is so specific... I gotta ask though, when that client said "dusty" about the ends, did she mean it looked like dry color or was it more about the tone actually pulling grey? Cause I've had "dusty" mean two totally different things depending on who says it. Some people just pick the worst words to describe hair color and it sticks with you forever.
