My old mentor told me "never skimp on your blow dryer" and I didn't listen for 3 years

Back when I first started at Supercuts in Phoenix, my trainer Maria kept saying to save up for a decent dryer. I thought she was just being fancy since I was making barely $9 an hour. So I kept buying those $30 ones from the drugstore and wondered why my arms ached by noon. After one cheap dryer literally caught fire on a client in 2019, I finally got a $180 one from a beauty supply shop. The difference was night and day, my hands didn't tire out and my blowouts held shape way longer. Maria was right all along and I wasted so much time being stubborn about it. Has anyone else had a piece of advice they ignored for way too long? Missed out on that time and money for nothing.

18 year old me at my first pizza joint job, the head cook told me to spend $60 on non-slip shoes instead of the $15 ones from Walmart. I ignored him, slipped on some grease, and landed hard enough to mess up my wrist for two months. Finally caved and bought a good pair and yeah, I felt pretty dumb for not listening earlier. It's wild how much a little piece of "spend money on the thing that keeps you safe or saves your body" can save you so much pain and cash later. Your Maria sounds like she knew what she was talking about, sorry you had to learn the hard way too.
