Rant: a salon owner in Tulsa handed me a ratty 1990 Wahl clipper and I finally get why old heads hoard them
I was at a continuing ed class in Tulsa last weekend and the lady teaching it pulled out her grandma's old Wahl clipper, serial plate worn smooth, and passed it around. She said she has run it 5 days a week since 1989 and it has only needed two cord swaps. My $200 cordless set has been back to the shop twice in 18 months, mostly for a battery that quits at the worst time. Anyone else still keep a plug in set in the drawer as backup, or am I just old?

Only needed two cord swaps" is the most beautiful sentence I've read all week. My fancy cordless one dies mid fade and I'm standing there like an idiot holding a dead brick, so yeah the old plug in stays in the drawer.
