Chatting with the site foreman gave me a new way to handle hand signals

We were waiting for materials and got talking about communication mix-ups. He said he always confirms signals with a quick nod before moving the load. I started doing this too, and it cuts down on mistakes from unclear gestures. It's a small change that makes the whole team work better together.

Yeah, that double-check thing shows up everywhere, right? Like how I'll check the door lock twice before leaving, even though I just locked it. Saves a whole trip back home later.

I could use that nod system in my daily life. Once waved at a coworker thinking it was a hand signal, just meant hello. Now I overdo it. Nodded at my coffee maker this morning. Double-checking saves my butt though. I verify my keys are in my pocket like three times.

The coffee maker nod is totally something I'd do. Those little checks become habit but they really do prevent bigger problems.
