Got a call from the safety inspector after a job in Tacoma that made me rethink my whole approach to tagline tension.

That whole "permanent part of the setup" thing hits on something bigger. It's like how a lot of stuff is made to look solid but is actually pretty flimsy. You see it in cheap furniture that wobbles right out of the box, or those "professional" toolkits with plastic gears inside the drill. The real test isn't how it looks on day one, but whether it holds up when you actually lean on it. The inspector is just calling out that same fake sturdiness, but for something where it really matters.

What did the inspector in Tacoma actually say about your tagline setup?

Yeah, the Tacoma inspector was super clear about it. He told me the tagline needs to be a PERMANENT part of the setup, @sam_hart, not just a vinyl sticker you can peel off. It has to be etched, stamped, or a solid plate riveted on. Basically, if it looks like you could change it without tools, they'll fail it. Saved me a huge headache on the re-inspection.
