Pro tip: I was setting my outriggers wrong for years on a 90-ton mobile

A guy from a crew in Tacoma pointed out my pads were sinking an inch on soft ground. He showed me using a bigger spreader mat under each pad, which fixed it right away. Anyone else have a good trick for muddy sites?

My buddy learned to lay down old conveyor belt strips first in real slop.

Sounds like a lot of extra work, blair506. How often are you really dealing with mud that bad? I've driven through some pretty deep stuff and never needed to unpack a conveyor belt first. Seems like a solution for a problem most people just don't have.

Yeah if you're just hitting some ruts it's overkill. But man, I've seen trucks sink past the axles on some job sites. Those strips are a lifesaver when you're stuck for real.
