I finally stopped using the same white backdrop for every product shoot
After getting back photos from a client last week who sells vintage ceramics, I realized I had been shooting everything on pure white and completely killing the texture and warmth of their glazes, and now I just throw a piece of raw linen over the table instead.

Tossed a mustard yellow tablecloth under a mug last week and @mitchell.shane the client actually asked if we could reshoot everything with it, turns out white was making their stuff look like hospital supplies.

Honestly I gotta push back on this. White backgrounds exist for a REASON - they let the product speak for itself without any visual noise. A lot of clients actually want that clean look especially for e-commerce. You might be introducing more problems than you're solving with that linen texture.
