Broke my CSS-only pumpkin last week, pure divs vs clip-path, which side wins?
Spent 3 hours last Tuesday building a jack-o-lantern in CodePen using 47 nested divs for the ridges, then my browser choked and it rendered as a flat orange blob. I switched to one clip-path polygon and it looked cleaner in 20 minutes, but now I feel like a cheater. My buddy in Austin says clip-path is fine, real CSS artists hand-place every shape with borders and border-radius. Where do you all draw the line, is clip-path still legit or does it defeat the whole point?

Wait, your buddy thinks clip-path is cheating? A pumpkin is literally a flat orange shape in real life, so using one polygon to make that shape is just smart. Hand-placing 47 nested divs with borders for ridges sounds like a fun challenge, but calling it the only "real" way is like saying you have to knit your own socks instead of buying them. Tools exist to make things easier, and if a 20 minute clip-path pumpkin looks cleaner and doesn't crash your browser, what's the downside? The line should be "does it look good and run smooth," not "did I suffer enough making it.
