Rant: Coworker told me to use the same password for everything

My buddy Dave at the office kept saying I should just use one easy password for all my accounts to save time. I tried it for about 3 months until someone phished my work email through a fake login page. Then they got into my bank account because it was the same password. Cost me $200 in fraud fees before the bank refunded it. Has anyone else had a coworker give terrible security advice like that?

My uncle actually did the same thing to me back in 2021. He swore up and down that reusing the same password for everything was the smart way to go because you'd never forget it. Took about two weeks before I got hacked on a sketchy gaming site and lost access to my Facebook and Netflix at the same time. Learned that lesson the hard way for sure.

My coworker Linda had the same bright idea about a year ago. She made her single password "Password123" because she thought nobody would guess something that obvious. Within a month someone got into her Instagram and started posting weird spam links to all her contacts. Then they got her email password reset and locked her out of everything for two days. She had to call her bank and change every account she owned one by one. I still give her crap about it whenever she brings up passwords.
