Warning: my password manager locked me out for 3 days after an update
Last Tuesday my password manager pushed an auto update and then refused to accept my master password. Support said to clear local cache, but that wiped my offline vault copy too. I spent 2 days using SMS codes to get into my bank and email, which felt totally backwards. Now I'm wondering if the convenience of these tools is worth the single point of failure. Should I switch to a hardware key setup or just go back to a paper notebook in a fire safe? Anyone else get burned by an update that was supposed to make things smoother?

Paper notebooks don't push surprise updates that brick your access though. Sometimes the old school system is the most reliable system out there. Plus a fire safe is way harder to hack than some cloud server.
