Hit 500 business cards printed this month and it surprised me

I run a small cleaning business and just ordered business cards for the first time. I picked 500 as a round number but didn't think I'd give them out that fast. Turns out handing one to every new client plus leaving a stack at coffee shops adds up quick. Did anyone else pick a specific print run size that ended up being way off?

500 cards in a month? I honestly think that's a waste. Most people toss business cards before they even get home, so you're basically paying for a stack of trash. Coffee shop bulletin boards are a graveyard for those things, nobody actually looks at them. If you're already getting clients without them, the cards aren't doing much extra work. Save your money and put it toward a good Google My Business listing instead, that actually gets seen.

Last year I swore business cards were dead money, told my friend who owns a bakery she was throwing cash away on them. But then I watched her stack disappear from a local laundromat in two weeks and people kept walking in saying they found her through that exact card. Completely changed my mind on it. 500 feels like a lot but if you're leaving them in the right spots where people actually wait around bored, they pick them up. I still think Google Business is important too, but cards hit a different crowd who aren't searching online. Your coffee shop stack might be doing more than you think.
