Rant: I printed 1,000 wedding invites and only then noticed the apostrophe was a comma
I run a small print setup out of my garage in Dayton and last week I finished a 1,000 piece wedding invite order that took me four days to get through the press. The bride had sent me her text in a Google Doc and I copied it straight into the layout without zooming in, and the word "you're" came through as "you,re" on every single card. I shipped the whole batch Friday morning before catching it, so now I'm reprinting all of them on my own dime and eating about $380 in paper and ink. I keep zooming in on my files now before anything goes to press. Does anyone here have a checklist trick for catching punctuation typos before a big run?
Figured this was overkill for years and just trusted the copy paste, but after reading your post I get why people do it. Now I dump the text into a plain doc and run find and replace to hunt for commas where apostrophes should be, takes two minutes and saves a reprint. Sounds dumb until it saves you 380 bucks.
