All the open concept remodels on my block have me puzzled.

Everyone says it makes spaces feel bigger, but I find it just makes them feel empty. My cousin's place is so loud now you can't hear the TV over the blender.

Noise is the worst part in my experience. Throwing down a big area rug and some tall bookshelves can really help with the echo and sound bouncing around. It also fixes that empty feeling by breaking up the space without putting up walls. Honestly, the lack of smell barriers is what gets me, everything from last night's fish dinner is just hanging out in the living room.
