Just counted the paint samples I've collected for my living room

I have 27 different swatches taped to the wall right now. It started with picking between two grays, but then I got a sample of a green, then a blue, and it just kept going. My partner walked in and said it looks like a weird art project. I'm trying to find a color that works with our old oak floors and gets enough light in the afternoon. Has anyone else gotten this deep into the sample hole and found a good way to narrow it down?

Remember when paint chips were just little paper strips? What even is the point of taping actual paint to the wall?

Honestly I totally get why they do it now. Those little paper chips never show you how the color really looks in your own light. Taping up a real sample lets you see it at different times of day before you commit. It saves so much hassle from painting a whole wall and hating it. The extra step is worth it to get the color right.
