My brand new backsplash cracked 2 days after install

I spent $600 on subway tile and it looked killer until a hairline crack showed up right behind the stovetop. Turns out the wall flexed when I closed a cabinet hard, so I'm pulling it all off and adding cement board this weekend. Anyone else deal with tile cracking from wall movement?

Did you check for studs behind the drywall before installing?

yeah honestly i used to think you could skip it if you were careful but one bad install changed my mind real quick. now i always check no matter what
