Paid $300 for custom tile layout advice that was just 'use a level'
Hired a designer to fix my bathroom tile pattern and all she did was watch me for 10 minutes then said basically what my dad tells me for free. Anyone else get burned by paying for obvious advice?

Isn't it wild how these "professionals" just pocket your cash for stuff you could figure out in a minute? I paid a guy $200 to tell me that my shower niche should be "level with the grout lines" after I already had it set. He didn't even touch a tile, just stood there pointing and talking for 15 minutes. Felt like I got played for a fool honestly. Now I just ask my buddy who does his own Reno stuff, he's never let me down. Makes you wonder what we're actually paying for half the time.

That guy sounds like a hack, but good pros save you from costly mistakes you can't see yet.
