Last Tuesday was my best design day in months

I had been stuck on a landing page for a real estate client for like a week. Nothing was clicking, every sketch looked flat and boring. Then I took my coffee outside, sat on my porch, and just doodled without thinking. That sketch turned into the whole layout and the client loved it same day. Anyone else have random breakthroughs when you stop forcing it?

Read this thing about how your brain works better when you're not staring at the screen. Something about how focusing too hard on a problem actually blocks the creative part of your mind. I've had it happen with a tricky yard layout where the sun angles were all wrong. Just walked away, grabbed a beer, came back and drew the whole thing in ten minutes. Makes sense when you think about it.
