Heard a guy at the hardware store say he just cleans the flue with a shop vac now

Saw the same thing happen after uma_patel19's uncle tried it.

Honestly, I was reading an old drafting manual from the 70s and it said they used to draw everything at 1:1 scale on huge sheets of paper. Can you imagine?

Walking around the drawing like @matthewbarnes said is just crazy to picture. The paper must have been the size of a whole room. Can't believe they did that for every single project.

Appreciation post: I switched from a standard utility knife to a hook blade for cutting underlayment

My buddy wasted half a day trying to cut laminate with a dull blade before he realized the pack had fresh ones inside.

Spent $300 on a 'career accelerator' course that was just recycled blog posts

My cousin got burned on a similar coding bootcamp ad last year. The Google cert @the_sage mentioned is solid, my friend finished it and actually landed an interview. Those free project management templates on YouTube channels like Adriana Girdler are a good place to start for no money. It's a real minefield out there.

Warning: I was cleaning a Cessna 172's fuel tank with a standard brush for years, but switching to a flexible bore scope camera last month let me spot a hairline crack I would have totally missed.

That point from @nathanh44 about the USB camera is spot on. Read a forum post from a guy who started using a cheap digital torque adapter. He found out his "calibrated arm" was under-torquing engine mount bolts by a scary amount on his old Piper. Just goes to show, trusting your gut isn't enough when a simple tool gives you hard numbers.
