Hit 10,000 foils today and it finally clicked
I was counting up my clients this morning to file taxes and realized I did my 10,000th foil highlight last week. I've been doing hair for 7 years now in a small shop in Portland, Maine and that number honestly surprised me. It's weird how you can do the same motion thousands of times and then one day you just feel it in your shoulder. Has anyone else had a random milestone like that pop up out of nowhere?

Did you ever think you'd hit a number like that without really noticing? I spent years thinking milestones had to be something you planned for, like a goal you set on January 1st. But the way you described it, just doing the work and suddenly realizing it, that really hit me. It changed my mind because I used to think you had to be constantly checking your progress to feel like you were getting somewhere. Now I see it's the opposite, sometimes the most meaningful numbers sneak up on you when you're just focused on doing the job right. That feeling in your shoulder makes it real, doesn't it?

That shoulder thing is exactly it, you know? It's like your body keeps score even when your brain isn't paying attention. I've noticed this pattern with other stuff too, like when I got to the last page of a really long book I'd been reading for months. I wasn't checking how many pages were left, I was just into the story, and then suddenly there it was, the end. Or even with my garden, I water it every day and don't think about it, but then one morning I'll count and realize I've got like 20 tomato plants when I only started with five seeds. We get so caught up in the doing part that the milestones just kind of appear, like they were waiting for us to stop looking.
