After six months, I still can't figure out our design system's docs.

Feel your pain. Good docs need real examples right next to the rules. Ours just lists components without showing how they actually fit together. Spent an hour yesterday searching for basic button styles. Makes our whole team avoid using the system which defeats the point.

I mean sometimes too many examples just make docs messy though. Maybe searching forces you to actually learn how the system works instead of just copying.

Agree that searching can help you learn, but like @nina834 said, if the docs are too bare you just stop using them. The goal should be clear examples that explain the why, not just random code to copy. That balance is what makes a system actually stick.
