Found my old pattern library from 2015 and laughed at how messy it was
Last week I was cleaning out my Google Drive and stumbled on a design system folder from like 8 years ago... It had like 30 different button styles with no real naming rules. I remember spending hours updating a single component and having to manually hunt down every instance in Sketch. Looking back now, it's wild how much tools like Figma and token setups have smoothed things out. Anybody else have old design system files that make you cringe a little?

Honestly I used to think all those old messy libraries were just part of the process and it was fine. But then I tried to update a shared button component across like 15 screens and realized I had been wasting so much time. The whole experience of manually finding every instance in layers that weren't labeled made me appreciate how much better things are now with auto layout and shared tokens.

Oh man, tell me about it. I feel like we all went through that phase of just accepting the chaos because fixing it seemed way harder. But honestly, once you get those design tokens set up, it's like finally breathing again.
