Shoutout to the librarian who showed me how hierarchy works on a flier
She took my messy club poster and pointed at three key details with a red pen, now I can't unsee how size and placement guide the eye.

Honestly I used to think hierarchy was just design jargon but that red pen trick actually makes total sense now.

Oh man, I feel this so much! I remember sitting through a design meeting years ago where someone was going on about visual hierarchy and I just nodded along pretending I knew what they meant. But then I tried that red pen trick where you mark up a page to see what catches your eye first, and it just clicked. It really is one of those things that sounds like fancy buzzwords until you actually see it in action and it makes everything make sense.
