My Figma file crashed 5 times during a 2 hour deadline rush last night

Had a 6pm client review for a landing page in Austin and my Figma file just kept freezing up whenever I tried to edit a nested component. Turns out I had 47 hidden layers stacked on top of each other from three weeks of revisions. Has anyone else had their file size balloon like that and found a good way to clean it out?

lol the "47 hidden layers" thing hit me right in the soul. I started running a plugin called Remove Hidden Layers every few days and it cut my file size in half, total lifesaver.

47 hidden layers" yeah that cut deep for me too @blair_dixon. I think people hoard layers the same way they hoard browser tabs or old emails. You keep stuff around because you might need it later, but you never actually need it. I finally just started doing a hard purge every friday afternoon before I shut down. Its kind of cathartic honestly. Feels like cleaning out the garage of your brain.
