Stopped flattening my PSDs before sending to developers and saved like 10 hours a month
I used to flatten every layer because I thought it made files cleaner. Then last month one of the devs asked for the original source file cuz he needed to tweak a button hover state and I had to rebuild it from scratch. Took me 3 hours redoing something I already did. Now I just export with a simple folder structure and leave all the layer groups intact. Devs seem happier and I'm not doing double work. Has anyone else had devs ask for weird stuff that made you rethink your file prep?

Respectfully disagree, flattening keeps me honest about file organization.

Nobody told me devs needed editable gradients until I flattened a bunch of them and someone had to change a color. Wasted a whole afternoon rebuilding those layer styles from memory. Now I just keep everything grouped by section and call it done.
