Noticed an older drafting table at a coffee shop and missed the old days

Stopped into a shop in Portland last weekend called Common Grounds and they had this beat up old drafting table in the corner someone was using as a standing desk. It had the parallel bar still attached and everything. Made me think about how much my own desk has changed from that kind of setup to just a laptop on a cheap IKEA table. Anyone else ever feel like the old school tools had something the new stuff just can't replace?

Hang on, they let people actually USE it? That thing isn't roped off like a museum piece? Props to that coffee shop for not treating it like some fragile antique. Man, a real parallel bar setup is something else entirely. Nothing beats the solid feeling of drawing on a real drafting table with a good lamp. A laptop on some flimsy flatpack desk just doesn't have that same soul. It's like they don't even make tools that feel built to last a career anymore.

Wait, @josephs26, you actually found a coffee shop that lets people touch their drafting table?
