Had a web dev tell me to stop using auto-play videos on my homepage
A dev in a forum said autoplay video was bad for users with motion sensitivity and screen readers, but I thought engagement would drop without it. After 3 months with autoplay, my bounce rate went up 12% and I got two complaints about dizziness. Anyone else ditch autoplay and see better results?

Man, I heard Google's own tests showed autoplay videos actually hurt user engagement.

...and yet every site on earth still shoves them in our faces, right? I gotta admit, I'm the guy who'll scroll past a whole article just to avoid that video starting up and blasting sound at me in the middle of a quiet room. It's like my brain instantly says "nope, not dealing with that" and I bounce to the next page. Google can run all the tests they want, I guess nobody else got the memo.
