I used to think those cheap digital torque wrenches were a total waste of money.
A guy at the shop in Tacoma kept telling me to try his, so I finally borrowed it on a head gasket job last week. I set it to 110 foot pounds for the main bolts and it beeped, and my old clicker wrench was still a good 15 pounds off when I checked it. Now I'm saving up for one of my own. Has anyone else had a tool they hated turn out to be a game changer?

That "tool you hated" thing hits home. I was the same with those magnetic parts trays. Thought they were a gimmick until one saved a tiny carburetor screw from falling into a lawnmower deck. Now I own three and feel dumb for fighting it.

That "saved a tiny carburetor screw" moment is real, like when my stubby screwdriver finally made sense on a cramped dishwasher.
